Our Programme Director Charles Maltby caught up with Liz and Mike Mayes, the owners of Colourcube Automotive Ltd recently and learned about business in Lepton.
Colourcube specializes in a wide range of accident repair services, from minor dent and scratch repairs to major Insurance Repairs. They highlight their meticulous attention to detail and state-of-the-art technology, to ensure that your vehicle receives the care it deserves.
1 – Tell us about you and your business story so far?
Liz – Mike and I started the Colourcube brand in 2016, we wanted to provide a service that was honest, transparent and professional.
Mike – To create a workshop that was replicating the high standards of the approved prestige manufacturers repair facilities but on a smaller scale so we can offer a personal service.
Liz – To repair everything in the correct way using the correct manufacturer repair methods, whilst maintaining a great customer journey from visiting our website to leaving after the repair has been completed, that is always 100%.
2 – How has Huddersfield helped you be successful in business?
Liz – We have been welcomed into the community, both our local and business community. We also have a number of brand ambassadors; that have the same brand values as we have so our clients are very much aligned. Both Mike and I also share our experiences and knowledge with other local businesses and they do the same, everyday is a learning day.
3 – What advice would you give to someone looking to set up or relocate their business in Huddersfield?
Mike – Find the right location and choose appropriately to suit your needs and the service that you provide.
Liz – Have a strong understanding of your brand, market level and value proposition. Of course, look at your local competitors, and stay ahead of the game!
4 – What future plans do you have for your business that involve investment into Huddersfield?
Mike – We are excited about sustainability and looking to invest appropriately in our business.
Liz – We have clear growth plans; this will enable our team to support more businesses and also continue to service our B2C clients. We are confident that Huddersfield is the right place for our business.

Mike – A lot of the Huddersfield public love their cars! There are so many different dealerships in the town that access to customers is great. There are classic cars, modern supercars, everyday cars and many big brands all in one little town!
Liz – There is opportunity to gain knowledge from Huddersfield, by talking to people from many different industries and service providers; the teams at Kirklees council are also always on-hand to support.
Liz – Our Colourcube team all come from our local area, we also have strong relationships with Education Providers; it’s important to invest in the future.
Jorja (Apprentice Customer Care Advisor and Trainee VDA) – The community is really strong across Huddersfield. We volunteer at our local Lepton and Almondbury community events, this has enabled us to get to know our local community and for them to get to know us. This has created a stronger connection between us and our community.

Liz – I think it’s a very exciting time for Huddersfield, hearing about the plans are all positive; I am happy and excited that we are here.
