Kirklees Council has this week announced the full line up for Kirklees Pride which takes place on Saturday 17 June from 1pm in St George’s Square.
Headlining this free celebration event is internationally reknowned saxophonist, Ellie Sax. Ellie has toured the world with her saxophone performing at the world’s most exclusive events, festivals and nightclubs and worked with some world-famous DJs and artists.
Joining Ellie on the main stage will be Jaymi Hensley, formerly of Boy Band Union J, Huddersfield band The Will Yates Experience a Dua Lipa tribute act plus performances from local drag artists.
The event will be compered by the inimitable Mamma Bear and promises to be an afternoon of hilarious comedy and fantastic music.
Councillor Naheed Mather, Cabinet Member for Culture and Greener Kirklees said:
“We are once again delighted to support Kirklees Pride as it develops and grows. This year’s event is part of our Kirklees Year of Music so it is only fitting that there will be a fabulous line up of musical acts to entertain throughout the day. We also have drag acts, workshops, food and drink and commercial stalls, all of which promises to make a fantastic day celebrating and learning with the LGBTQIA+ community.”
In addition to the main stage, there will be street theatre from the incredible Granny Turismo, a giant inflatable wipeout game, free face painting, badge and bracelet making.
Food and drink stalls including Magic Rock, RAIN bar, Bean Brothers Coffee, Punch Pan Yum, Nomadic Pizza.
There will be crafting workshops, and the West Yorkshire Archive Service will be bringing a display of their Queer Stories exhibition.

“Pride is an important event all over the world in educating and challenging the prejudices that are faced by the LGBTQIA+ community for simply being themselves. We are proud to be diverse and inclusive here in Kirklees and our Pride event is in support and celebration of the community in our borough.”
