A special evening to celebrate the wonderful work done by the many volunteers in Kirklees was held at Huddersfield Town Hall on April 18th.

The Mayor of Kirklees’ Recognition for Volunteering highlighted the people who are ‘just helping out’ or ‘lending a hand’, for their often very simple but valued contribution to the wellbeing of their communities.

Volunteers and voluntary groups were put forward by ward councillors and were presented with a special award for their work.

The Mayor of Kirklees Cllr Cahal Burke said, “Volunteers are people who care about the communities they live in and the environment around them – they give their time generously to enhance the lives of their communities. Without them, people would not be able to make friendships that help villages and towns thrive and enhance everybody’s wellbeing.”
