Station to Stadium
Enterprise Corridor

Key development sites cluster around the Health Innovation Campus and the Investment Zone in the area from the Huddersfield train station to the Accu Stadium. This is known as the Station to Stadium Enterprise Corridor.

This area plays an important role in Huddersfield’s future. It’s a mix of town centre spaces, historical buildings, businesses, leisure and transport routes, and we are working with partners to draw in new jobs, new businesses and increased prosperity.

Train Station

The Station to Stadium Enterprise Corridor has lots of potential. It’s close to major transport links, home to key buildings and businesses, and acts as a ‘gateway’ to town.

It includes well-known locations such as:

  • St George’s Square

The area around the train station, including the George Hotel.

  • Southgate and Gasworks

Where new buildings and green spaces will be built.

  • The Stadium Gateway

The stretch of road connecting the Accu Stadium and St George's Square.

  • Syngenta site redevelopment

Opportunities for new business developments within the existing site.

The government has provided important funding through the Levelling Up Fund and the Towns Fund, which are major investment schemes to help similar places in the UK grow.

This means we can make improvements that will benefit Huddersfield and Kirklees for years to come, including:

  • Creating better public spaces and easier ways to get about, like walking and cycling.

  • Bringing unused or underused buildings back to life.

  • Supporting businesses and job creation.

  • Making the area more attractive for residents, visitors and investors.

Funding

We’re making sure the improvements reflect Huddersfield’s history while preparing the town for a successful future. Projects include:

  • Restoring historic buildings and making them useful again.

  • Creating greener, more attractive streets and public areas.

  • Supporting creative industries and start-ups.

  • Making it easier to travel in and around the area.
