In November 2017 Sewell Group, a Yorkshire based estates business, completed their investment in principle Huddersfield based contracting business, Illingworth & Gregory Ltd.
Sewell Group was handpicked by owner and managing director, Jeremy Illingworth, because of the natural similarities he could see in culture, ways of working and being a fellow family-run, employee focused company.
Two years on and as 2019 draws to a close managing director, Jeremy Illingworth, has taken the difficult decision to depart from his role with the company.
Jeremy Illingworth said: “My family connection with I&G and the positive relationships I have made with Sewell make this announcement a difficult one, and it is with mixed emotions that I announce my departure from the Group, leaving my position with I&G at the end of 2019. I will, however, happily be making myself available to the team as and when required to support the successful business leadership transition.”
“Over the last two years I have had the opportunity to share my knowledge and company plans with many of the Sewell team, and as such I am confident in handing over the reins to directors, Sean Henderson and Chris Soper from Sewell Construction who will continue to work alongside existing I&G Directors, Dean Simpson and Neil Tinker to help steer the I&G team as it moves forward.
“With their existing relationships in the I&G business and intimate knowledge of our company, I anticipate that this will be a seamless transition and that our ways of working with both our customers and our team will continue to be unaffected. I&G has achieved so much over the years and I want to thank all of our customers and partners for their support in making this possible.”
Sean Henderson, said: “We’re very much looking forward to continuing the legacy that Jeremy and his family have built.

Jeremy has been managing director at I&G for over a decade but first began working at his family’s business over nineteen years ago.
