Dewsbury-based arts organisation Manasamitra has partnered with Kirklees Libraries to tour its brand-new performance, Slumber Stories.

Slumber Stories will weave contemporary tales and music from around the world into a stimulating experience to entertain families this autumn

Families and young audiences can enjoy a series of intimate performances, which will later be released as podcasts to help inspire parents and children alike to continue their night-time storytelling ritual at home.

Creator and musician Supriya Nagarajan said: “We are thrilled to be performing Slumber Stories to families in Kirklees. We have worked hand in hand with Kirklees Libraries to deliver a stimulating and fun programme of events for the local community.

“The last 18 months have been extremely challenging, with children learning remotely and parents juggling work, schooling and many other responsibilities. We really want to help provide a restful evening for families to bond and recentre after the ordeals of the pandemic.”

Performance dates are:

  • 25 October – Batley Library
  • 28 October – Greenwood Centre
  • 29 October – Birkby/Fartown Library
  • 24 November – Birstall Library
  • 25 November – Almondbury Library

All performances are free for both adults and children, but booking is essential.
