The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce’s international trade arm, MY Export Hub, has launched a free Brexit Support Hub, a one-stop shop where businesses can access advice, resources and support as well as access to expert consultants, enabling them to conquer the challenges and harness the opportunities of importing and exporting following the UK’s exit from the European Union.

The Chamber has reported a number of issues being faced by businesses in the region stemming from the new trading arrangements, including new documentation requirements, border controls and labelling requirements.

To help businesses in the Mid Yorkshire region overcome these hurdles, MY Export Hub’s Brexit Support Hub will cover the cost of external, expert consultancy.

Martin Hathaway, managing director of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “We have been seeing first-hand the impact that Brexit has had on businesses in our region, and quickly identified the need for a dedicated service to support local importers and exporters.

“Coronavirus already presents a very challenging climate for many businesses, but for many, the changing requirements resulting from Britain’s exit from the EU are weighing equally heavy on leaders’ shoulders.

“Our MY Export Hub has been delivering support and guidance to its members for over 30 years and we are delighted to able to expand its offering during such a key period.

“Our dedicated team is on-hand to answer your questions and elevate queries for external consultation where applicable, as part of our commitment to supporting you and your business. This free service is only available for a limited time until 31 March 2021, so we urge all businesses to access this support if they require it.”

MY Export Hub is the Mid Yorkshire Chamber one-stop-shop for exporters, from established businesses to those who are considering trading internationally for the first time. MY Export Hub is being supported with funding from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.

As well as being able to tap into the expertise of international trade hub advisers, businesses can seek assistance with export documentation, market information and contacts, language and translation services and foreign currency exchange.

In association with partners and Chamber members, MY Export Hub also provides access to international trade training through a series of events and seminars.

The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce is currently offering free membership to businesses in the Wakefield Council and Kirklees Council areas, as well as up to 75% off Chamber membership for businesses in Calderdale. This offer is supported by a contribution to memberships from the LEP, over 400 businesses will be able to join the Mid Yorkshire Chamber and take advantage of the advice and support services the Chamber offers, as well as financial and employee benefits.
