Yorkshire housebuilder Newett Homes has begun works on a new 27-home development in Birchencliffe

Yorkshire housebuilder Newett Homes has begun works on a new 27-home development in Birchencliffe, following the acquisition of a 2.4-acre parcel of land on Yew Tree Road.

The £11 million scheme will transform the greenfield site into a high-quality residential development comprising a collection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes across seven house designs.

The carefully considered scheme has been designed with sustainability in mind, and all homes will include solar panels and EV charging points as standard and achieve an EPC rating of A or above.

Located in a semi-rural setting with convenient transport links to both Huddersfield and Halifax, Cedar Grove will offer buyers a balance of countryside living and convenient connectivity.

The site is surrounded by an original dry-stone wall, which will be fully refurbished, and homes will be built using traditional-style stone bricks, keeping the development in harmony with the character of the surrounding area.

As part of the scheme, the housebuilder will also contribute approximately £240,000 towards local education, transport improvements, green space and biodiversity enhancements.

Newett Homes chief executive, Will Newett, said:

“We’re pleased to see work starting on site at Cedar Grove and to be bringing forward a thoughtfully designed development that will deliver a boutique range of distinctive new homes for the area.

“Cedar Grove reflects our approach to delivering developments that are carefully designed around their surroundings. We’ve built a strong reputation in the area for creating high-quality homes, and this scheme has been thoughtfully planned to complement its semi-rural setting while offering buyers sustainable, energy-efficient living.

“Alongside delivering a mix of private and affordable homes, we’re also proud to be making a meaningful contribution towards local amenities to benefit the wider community for years to come.”

Initial groundworks are underway at Cedar Grove and construction is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete. The first homes will be released for sale in June.
