We will clarify a business view of the top 5 transport priorities for Huddersfield for the future, taking account of planned investment and lobby to fill the gap.

WHAT

At a regional and national level, we aim to influence transport policy and investment plans and support initiatives which achieve the identified priorities and improve all aspects of travel into and around Huddersfield. This includes road, rail, and other forms of public and green transport initiatives. We will focus on where we believe we are now and where we need to be in the future.

HOW

We have established a collaborative working group consisting of HU businesses members, the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and members of Huddersfield Civic Society who all have an active interest in transport and connectivity. We have established liaison arrangements with the relevant statutory agencies and the broader business community to consider priorities and represent views to regional and national government and transport operators.

The working group’s long term objectives are to seek to identify up to five transport and connectivity objectives that will support the future USP of our town. During the Covid period, we are focussing on making the case for full electrification of Transpennine and implementation of effective active travel for the Town.

Updates in both these areas are published in the blog pages of the web site.
